Can I Get A Great Job Without a CELTA Course?

Yes, as long as you have an EDI CertTEFL.

Let’s not beat about the bush, there are some TEFL jobs that require a CELTA level course. And they’re usually the best paid TEFL jobs in the top destinations like Saudi Arabia, Japan and Western Europe. Unfortunately, a CELTA level course can cost a fair chunk of cash and you’ll need to have four whole weeks free to take the course. Unless you take one of our EDI CertTEFL courses.

Is the EDI CertTEFL the same level as a CELTA course then?

Put simply, yes it is. Both have been accredited by the UK Government (OFQUAL) as a Level 5 qualification. Both courses qualify you to teach English abroad and in the UK. Both courses are recognised by the British Council and both courses include practical experience of teaching real English learners.

So How Is It Different From a CELTA Course?
While our EDI CertTEFL course is a little less expensive than most CELTA courses, the main difference between our EDI CertTEFL courses and normal CELTA courses is the level of flexibility it allows our students.

What does the EDI TEFL certificate include?
Put simply you get a 120 hour online TEFL course that you can do at any time that suits you. You also get a 20 hour classroom TEFL course that takes place over one weekend and gives you practical experience of planning and delivering an English lesson by teaching the other people of the course. Once all that is complete, you attend six Saturday sessions where you’ll plan and deliver a series of real lessons to real English learners.

Where are the EDI TEFL courses run?
We currently run EDICertTEFL Courses in England, Scotland, Ireland and Australia, and we’re adding more venues all the time. You can check out the latest EDI TEFL Courses here and find a date that suits you!

What’s the EDI TEFL Course Like?
Well, obviously we think it’s great. And given the chance we’d bore you to tears with stuff about the course flexibility, the innovative nature of the course content and how experienced (and funny) all the tutors are. But we think it’s better that you hear that from one of our EDI graduates who’s been on the course and lived to tell the tale. So here are a few words from Feroza Isakjee who took the EDI TEFL course earlier this year…

“Teaching students in the classroom and gaining that practical experience was really the highlight of the course for me. I think that gaining this practical experience on the course really helped to build my confidence and to develop into a better TEFL teacher”read more here

And a few more from a rather excited TEFL tutor…
Karen Boresjo is a really experienced English teacher and TEFL tutor. She taught out in Japan for 10 years, she was a director of studies in London and now she teaches on our weekend and online TEFL courses.

“The ability to gain such a practical qualification that allows you to teach not only abroad but also here in the UK at British Council accredited schools but still fits around your busy schedule is something that has been lacking and is definitely a great step forward”… read more here
