YALI and MALI are the two biggest schools here, and there are a few jobs advertised on the internet. Most schools that recruit from abroad will require highly-qualified teachers.
Can I find work while in-country?
This is the best way for newer teachers to find a job although, as mentioned before, this isn’t the best place to start your career with just a TEFL certificate. Teachers with an MA can build up their contacts while working in a pre-arranged job, then move on to another employer or re-negotiate their contract after the first year.
What is the usual hiring process?
Once you’ve applied, you’ll be interviewed (possibly over the phone) and your qualifications will be confirmed.
Is a work visa required to find paid work in?
You will need to get a 1-year business visa and a work permit before you arrive. Once in the country, you can then apply for a temporary residence permit from the Immigration Department.
