Teach English in The United Arab Emirates

Work & Visas

How do I find work?
There are lots of websites that advertise jobs in the UAE, and plenty of recruiters who promote themselves in national newspapers around the world – simply check the education supplements. Alternatively, you could contact the schools direct. Sabis runs international schools which are popular with new teachers; or look at the Emirates Network site for a list of other private institutes.
Can I find work while in-country?
This is rarely possible, and you’re much better off arranging a job before you arrive.
What is the usual hiring process?
Send off your resume and you’ll usually be interviewed over the phone. You may be invited to an interview in the UAE if you’re applying for a well-paid position, or you could have a face-to-face interview in your home country if there are recruiters there.
Is a work visa required to find paid work?
Yes, and they are much stricter than other countries. The visa is usually arranged by your employer before you arrive.
Work visa requirements:
  • Proof of job offer
  • Valid passport
  • Medical certificate
  • Visa fee
