Work & Visas

How do I find work?
It’s almost impossible to find work from home. The competitive local teaching market means that employers will want to see your face.
Can I find work while in-country?
This is the best option, but be prepared to sell yourself enthusiastically - schools will want to know that you’re positive and passionate if they’re to invest the time in arranging your work visa. Look for job ads in local papers or ask around at your guesthouse.
What is the usual hiring process?
Go into schools with your CV and, if you’re suitable, they’ll arrange an interview.
Is a work visa required to find paid work?
Yes, and the authorities are strict. Your employer will arrange for the Alien Employment Permit, which is valid for between six months and two years. It takes about two weeks to process, and once it arrives you can apply for an employment visa.
Work visa requirements:
  • Valid Passport
  • Job offer
  • Certified curriculum vitae
  • Medical certificate
