Work & Visas

How do I find work?
Many schools advertise in British newspapers – especially The Guardian – and many more advertise on the main TEFL recruitment websites, such as Dave’s ESL Café. Some of the bigger schools also set up stands at recruitment fairs.
Can I find work while in-country?
Absolutely! There is an abundance of schools in all the major cities and, as usual, your best option is to visit schools in person with CV in-hand.
What is the usual hiring process?
If you’re applying from your home country, you’ll usually be interviewed over the phone. If you turn up in person, you’ll often be interviewed on the spot.
Is a work visa required to find paid work?
Even though Poland is part of the EU, the visa process is somewhat convoluted. You’ll have to brave the red tape required for a residence visa. Once you’ve arrived in-country, you must then apply for a three-month work permit and, once this expires, a two-year residency card.
Work visa requirements:
  • Job offer
  • Valid passport
  • Degree certificate (with official translation)
