How do I find work?
The main TEFL job websites advertise jobs in Peru, as do LivingInPeru and ExpatPeru.
Can I find work while in-country?
This is the best option for most teachers, especially those with little teaching experience. Three of the most popular schools are. However, many of the best jobs are found by asking the right people or simply visiting schools with CV in hand.
What is the usual hiring process?
Make sure you attach a professional-looking photo to your CV. You’ll be interviewed and may be asked to teach a sample lesson before you’re hired.
Is a work visa required to find paid work?
Yes, but they’re difficult to obtain. Most teachers work on a tourist visa, which is valid for a maximum of six months before you have to leave and re-enter the country to renew it. Schools will often agree to arrange a working visa if you sign a one-year contract.
