Teach English in Malaysia
- How do I find work?
- You won’t find many jobs advertised on the internet or in print, so you’ll have to do a bit of searching and send off some CVs - International House has a school in Kuala Lumpur, as does ILS. Some of the bigger schools set up stands at education recruitment fairs, so see if there’s one coming up near you.
- Can I find work while in-country?
- This is the easiest way to get work, as there are plenty of smaller language schools around. Ask around at your guesthouse when you arrive.
- What is the usual hiring process?
- Once you’ve applied for a position, you’ll be interviewed in the usual way.
- Is a work visa required to find paid work?
- Work visas are very difficult to obtain and you’ll generally require an MA. Although illegal, most teachers at private language school level work on a tourist visa then exit and re-enter the country every 3 months to renew their status
- Work visa requirements:
-
- MA degree
- Valid Passport
- Job offer
