Teach English in Malaysia

Work & Visas

How do I find work?
You won’t find many jobs advertised on the internet or in print, so you’ll have to do a bit of searching and send off some CVs - International House has a school in Kuala Lumpur, as does ILS. Some of the bigger schools set up stands at education recruitment fairs, so see if there’s one coming up near you.
Can I find work while in-country?
This is the easiest way to get work, as there are plenty of smaller language schools around. Ask around at your guesthouse when you arrive.
What is the usual hiring process?
Once you’ve applied for a position, you’ll be interviewed in the usual way.
Is a work visa required to find paid work?
Work visas are very difficult to obtain and you’ll generally require an MA. Although illegal, most teachers at private language school level work on a tourist visa then exit and re-enter the country every 3 months to renew their status
Work visa requirements:
  • MA degree
  • Valid Passport
  • Job offer
