How do I find work?
Some of the bigger language schools arrange phone interviews, so it’s possible to have a job set up before you leave home.
Can I find work while in-country?
As with most countries, this is the best option. The newspaper El Tiempo carries job ads, or you could look at the Colombian Yellow Pages’ website. When you’ve complied a list of schools, simply visit them, résumé in hand.
What is the usual hiring process?
If you’re applying from home, you’ll have to provide references and do a telephone interview; if you’re applying in-country, you’ll be interviewed in-person.
Is a work visa required to find paid?
Yes, although some people work illegally on a tourist visa. The big problem with this is that you can only stay in the country for 6 months out of every 12.

  • Copies of you qualifications, including your TEFL certificate
  • Job offer
  • Visa fee
  • Health certificate with proof of vaccinations
