You’ll earn as much as €660* each month during your 9 month contract with a private language school. Based in Bratislava, your students could be teenagers, retirees or anything else in between! With holidays and a flexible timetable, you’ll have plenty of time to explore this beautiful country. If you perform well, you’ll even receive an end of contract bonus!

- Salary: Earn as much as €660* per month.
- Accommodation: Typically a private room in a shared apartment with fellow teachers, costing €130-160* per month.
- Arrival: On arrival at the airport, you’ll be taken to your accommodation. During your first few days, you’ll be taken to you school to meet your tutor and taken through the school’s teaching methods. You’ll also receive a day’s orientation to help you become familiar with Bratislava.
- Locations: Bratislava
- Contract length: 9 months.
- Departure dates: Every month, although most jobs start in September.
- Bonus: Yes, but this mostly depends on your performance - if the students give you good feedback, some schools will pay you a bonus at the end of the course or semester. You can also add to your salary by taking part in ESL training programmes throughout the school year.

Requirements
i-to-i's Overseas Partner requires that all candidates meet the following criteria:
- Native English speaker – you must have a native English passport (UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, USA or Canada).
- ESL-certified (100-hour or 120-hour ESL course recommended).
- University degree is an advantage, but NOT a requirement.
Teaching and Employment
- What age and level of students will I be teaching?
Usually aged 20-40 years old, but could be anywhere between 18 and 65. Proficiency varies from beginners to advanced. - How many students will there be in each class?
Between 1 and 12, depending on your employer. - How long are the classes?
Usually 45 to 90 minutes. - Are there any teaching resources?
Yes, there will be plenty of resources available. - Will I be teaching alone or team teaching?
You will be teaching independently, but outside of the classroom you will be supported by your colleagues. - What kind of school will I be teaching in?
Private language schools. - How much will I be paid?
Your monthly salary can reach €660*. Depending on your lifestyle, monthly living costs should be about €220*. - Do I receive a bonus or flight re-imbursement?

You will usually get a total of two weeks: one week around Christmas, plus the national holidays, although this varies between schools. - What are my working hours?
You’ll teach 5 – 6 lessons each day, usually in the morning between 7:30am and 10am, with more lessons in the afternoon from 4pm to 8pm. These hours will be spread over Monday to Thursday. - How does the recruitment process work?
- Send the required documents to us at i-to-i.
- Once submitted, our in-country partner will arrange a telephone/Skype interview. If you pass this, they will search for a teaching job for you.
- You will then travel Bratislava for face-to-face interviews.
- If successful, you will be given a contract and start teaching straight away.
- Applicants from USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand will be assisted by the school to obtain the required work visa.
- Can I renew my contract?
It’s possible, but will have to be discussed with your school. - What happens if I need to break my contract?
You must hand in notice within a reasonable time period (usually 1-2 months must be given) - What will my accommodation be like?
Usually a private room in a shared apartment with colleagues. - Who is my contract with?
Your contract will be with your employer: the language school or institute. It will not be with i-to-i or with our overseas partner. If you have any problems while on your placement, you’ll have to take them up with the employer themselves, rather than i-to-i. - What visa do I need?
Our in-country partner will help you with the visa requirements and application.

Recommended Training
While you can find work with limited ESL skills, our in-country partners suggest taking our top courses, the 100-hour Online ESL Course or the 120-hour Weekend ESL Course to give you the best chance of finding a good job. This will qualify for more specialised and challenging ESL jobs with higher salaries.
