About me

After travelling for several years I became tired of constantly moving around, not to mention being completely skint and decided I really had to get a job! Not wanting to return to the UK I worked as tour guide in Egypt before a friend suggested I might enjoy teaching - I loved it!

My work experience

Teaching gave me the lifestyle I wanted - all the excitement of living abroad, meeting new people, learning new languages and doing something more than just 'passing through' a country. Since I qualified as an EFL teacher I have taught in China, Korea, Poland, Egypt, Oman and the UK. Varying from private language schools with all the latest technology to controlling 60 potty training kids to scuffing around in the desert with the camels.

I'm now living in Scotland where I am attending university and counting the days till I can get back out there again!

I would recommend TEFL to anyone who loves meeting new people and who has a passion for new adventures -the seven years that I spent teaching abroad were truly amazing.

My top tips for new teachers

Top tips for new teachers? I'd say relax, enjoy yourself and try not to worry too much about grammar. As long as if you are well prepared the way to really get to grips with grammar is to get out there and teach it!
