I have been working for i-to-i as a weekend tutor since 2001. I mainly tutor on courses in Leeds and Manchester, but I have also tutored in Melbourne when i-to-i started delivering courses in Australia.
The weekend courses are great fun, I get to meet a variety of people who are all keen to learn about TEFL. They are often about to jet off to exciting destinations, I try not to get too jealous!
I got into TEFL after I graduated from University. I did a degree in French, but wanted to learn Spanish. Once I had completed my TEFL qualification I spent a year in Ecuador teaching English and learning Spanish. I have also taught English in Prague, at various summer schools in the UK and more recently in Australia.
My experiences teaching abroad encouraged me to to train as a secondary school modern languages teacher, which is what I am doing at the moment.
