Kara Baumann
What is your favourite part of the weekend course?
‘The Quick Fire Round’ that I do at the end of the course. It shows students just how much they have learnt in such a short time.
What made you want to be a TEFL Tutor?
I suppose, I wanted to pass on the knowledge and positive experiences that I have had to others.
What countries have you taught in or travelled to?
I’ve spent 3 years teaching abroad and 25 years travelling abroad!
Had you had any teaching experience before taking your own TEFL course?
No!
What do you think are the benefits of TEFL teaching or having a TEFL qualification?
Where do I start? There are so many positive outcomes from TEFL. For a start having a TEFL qualification gives you confidence in your abilities, and is a unique industry as it allows English speakers to live and work in virtually every part of the world.
What did you enjoy the most about teaching and travelling?
Everything – it’s one of life’s great experiences.
How has TEFL broadened your travel experiences? Do you have any future plans?
Apart from everything else, TEFL has allowed me the opportunity to learn a second language to exam level, something I never thought I’d do.
What advice would you give anyone thinking about TEFL and teaching abroad?
Go for it – only good can come from it!
What is your next goal?
Carpe diem quam minimum credula postero – "seize the day and place no trust in tomorrow"!
What can participants expect from your course?
Having a great time whilst learning a lot!
