I hold a BA Hons., a PGCE in Modern languages, and an RSA Dip in TEFLA.
My experience
I have extensive teaching experience in England - at present I’m working at London University. I’m qualified as a teacher trainer for CELTA, DELTA and the Trinity Certificate; I have run teacher training courses in England, Scotland, Holland, Brazil, South Africa and New Zealand and assessed courses in England, Scotland, Canada, the USA, France and Portugal.
My interests
Theatre, cooking, travelling, making mosaics.....and cats!
My tips for new teachers
Plan how to illustrate the MEANING of a new item of language and check that your students have really understood it (not just by asking 'Do you understand?') This is the core of learning a language. THEN focus on the PRONUNCIATION and the FORM.
Always ask yourself 'What did the students LEARN in this lesson?' as well as 'Did they enjoy it?'
