Our TEFL graduates

The people who take our courses and then head off to teach abroad are what puts a smile on our faces and makes all the hard work worthwhile. Loads of our graduates keep in touch after they’ve finished their courses to let us know how they’re doing. Here are a few of our favourites. Online TEFL course testimonials…

The guys below took our Online TEFL course. They seem to have done really well and found jobs they love overseas. Take a look at our Online TEFL Courses to find out how they got started.

Adam Hunter (He teaches out in China)

I'm working for a new private language school here in Shenzhen. I did three 12 hour days over the holiday weekend, so it was a baptism of fire. During the weekend I was assessed by a lady who teaches TEFL at a college in Zhuhai, who is related to the owner. She said that I was one of the best teachers that she had seen over the last two years and asked where I had done my training. She could not believe that I had done an online course with no practical training!

The TEFL course suited my needs perfectly as I studied during and both sides of a move from Greece to China. I found the course content both stimulating and informative. My tutor’s comments on my work were one of the most important things about the course and were helpful and always contained some good suggestions drawn from her own experiences. The course helped me prepare for my first experiences as a teacher and whilst I was thrown "in at the deep end" by the school for which I am working, the course had been so well constructed to enable me to not only cope, but turn the situation to my advantage.

Daniel Deacon (He’s taught all over the place)

I took my TEFL course with i-to-i in June 2004, a couple of years after graduating. I was stuck in a dull but well-paid job, paying off my student debts and dreaming of doing something more exciting with my life. My sister was teaching in South Korea, and a couple of months after receiving my certificate I went to Seoul to visit her. I hadn't planned to go as far as Asia to teach, instead I was thinking more about Europe and waiting for a time when I felt I had both enough money and confidence to up sticks and leave. However, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Seoul and seeing the lifestyle that my sister and her teacher friends lived so much that I left my suitcase behind, flew home to quit my job and a month later flew back out to find a teaching position. I had several interviews with schools around Seoul, and accepted a job on New Year's Eve 2004. I began to teach kindergarten and elementary kids. It was very daunting at first, but I remembered what I had learned in my TEFL course and after a few weeks it became so much fun that I hardly felt like I was working at all; I felt as though I was getting paid to have a great time. In addition to that, I got to meet hundreds of new friends and see fantastic places all over the country. I also took several trips in my holidays to places like China, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Macau. I enjoyed it so much I spent three years in Seoul, and I'm still teaching but this time I'm in the Czech Republic.

Amy Weatheritt (The world is her oyster)

I didn't want to be stuck in gloomy Manchester and the thought of teaching in any high school in England practically filled me with dread. That was when a friend suggested TEFL. So after looking into it I signed up for the twenty hour intensive weekend course, it was just what I needed to give me a taster of teaching and to give me the boost I needed to use my degree and passion for languages not to mention a great excuse to travel the world. Since then I have been travelling around Australia and have just booked a flight to go to Japan where I hope to teach English as a foreign language for about six months. i-to-i has given me a range of new opportunities, the world is literally my oyster, I look forward to exploiting my new qualification through i-to-i and experiencing many different cultures in what I hope will be a long and successful career for me.

Amanda Gillies (is now a career TEFLer)

I had a great time teaching in Japan. My TEFL course gave me all the skills I needed to be confident in the classroom. Since coming back I have continued to teach EFL and am now involved in a running a language school… all thanks to i-to-i

Bribery and games – the secret to a fun morning with my most difficult grade 6 classes! George and I planned a review lesson to incorporate and try out some new games and to see how much our students could remember from the past two months. After beginning with a game of ‘what is the odd one out’ from a series of powerpoint pages we’d previously used for English corner, we went on to play... Read more

Finally summer is here, and it seems that in Harbin they go all out. It's pretty much like a constant fun fair here now the sun is out - probably making up for the ridiculously long winter. Everyone is flying kites and eating candyfloss and blowing bubbles and painting and playing music. This afternoon I visited the local park which is about a 4 minute walk from my apartment. There are leaves and blossom on the trees and... Read more

By far the most exciting thing that's taken place over the past month is our trip to Xi'an last weekend. Thanks to a national holiday here in China, Sarah and I got five days off work, and decided to venture out of Xingtai to see a bit more of what this vast country has to offer. So on Friday evening off we went to the train station, and 9 hours and one 'soft sleeper' (with not much sleep) later, we arrived in the city of Xi'an… Read more
